Fascia Replacing

Previous slide

While the siding is an essential part of the house, it is not the only focus. Don’t forget to pay as much attention to the soffit and fascia. Both are commonly made of either wood, aluminum, or vinyl.

Soffit is the siding found under the roof’s overhang and differ depending on the climate you live in. The soffit helps maintain a steady airflow from your attic and roof through venting. This venting helps prevent moisture from building up and damaging your house and releases heat from the attic.

Fascia is the exposed board found directly above the soffit. Gutters are normally placed on the fascia. The fascia acts as the one of the last layers of support for the last row of roof tiles or shingles.

OB Twins do repair, replacement, and installation for homeowners to find the best choices of soffit and fascia for their house and needs. Both are susceptible to water damage and rot.

Signs for replacement for either your soffit or fascia would be:

  • Cracks and flaking paint
  • Holes in the soffit
  • Evidence of pests (bees, wasps, rodents)
  • Leaking gutters
  • Water in the roof void
  • Signs of water damage on interior walls
  • Frost in the attic
  • Lack of ventilation
  • Water running through the fascia and gutter

Aluminum Trim Capping

Previous slide
Next slide

Aluminum trim capping has many appealing points to it. They are especially popular in areas, such as the northeastern states, where weather is colder. They are a nice long-term, low maintenance feature for a house’s outside. The capping works as an extra layer of protection for the house:

  • Low maintenance
  • Protection from wear and wood rot
  • Keep insects from the trim
  • Fire, frost, and freezing resistant
  • One-time cost for long term use
  • Variety of materials and colors to chose from
How often should you power wash siding?
As a rule of thumb, vinyl siding should be pressure washed once a year. If the siding looks visibly clean and doesn’t have any mold or mildew, grime or debris buildup, then you can pressure wash it once every two years.

OB Twins Construction has a great experience in power-washing any types of siding in greater Lehigh Valley Area (Pennsylvania).
